Carpet Sanitizer Test

Test Purpose
The purpose of this microbiology lab test is to quantitatively evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy of a client's sanitizer product on pre-cleaned or lightly soiled carpet surfaces to comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other regulatory agency requirements.

Test Summary
Bacterial cells dried on carpet squares are treated with the test substance, scrubbed, and allowed to be exposed for the specified contact time. After exposure, the carpet squares are transferred to vessels containing neutralizing subculture media and assayed quantitatively for survivors. Appropriate viability, population and neutralization controls are performed.
