Disinfectant Test
Test Purpose
The purpose of this microbiology
lab test is to evaluate the
efficacy of a client's product
to eliminate a microorganism
population on fabric and in the
wash water following a single
simulated laundry procedure to
comply with the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency
and other regulatory agency
requirements.
Test Summary
Following a procedure outlined
by Petrocci, A.M. and Clarke, P,
fabric carriers are inoculated
with a suspension of the test
organism(s) and dried. Each lot
of test substance formulation is
exposed to the inoculated fabric
swatches in a simulated laundry
operation. Following exposure,
the wash water and the test
fabric carriers are cultured
qualitatively for survivors.
Appropriate test organism
population and neutralization
controls are performed.
