ASTM Quantitative Carrier Tests (QCT)

Test Purpose
The purpose of microbiology lab test is to quantify the ability of a client's product to produce microbial reduction on hard environmental surface following the ASTM Standard Quantitative Disk Carrier Test Method (ASTM E2197) to comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regulatory agency requirements. This is one of the microbiology efficacy tests outlined by EPA to substantiate hard surface sporicidal claims against Clostridium difficile.

Test Summary
A film of bacterial cells dried on a surface of stainless steel disk carriers is exposed to the test substance for a specified contact time. After exposure, the carriers are neutralized and assayed quantitatively for survivors. Appropriate viability, carrier population, and neutralization controls are performed.
