ASTM Pre-Saturated Towelettes
Test
Test Purpose
The purpose of this microbiology
lab test is to determine the
efficacy of a client's
pre-saturated towelette product
as a hard surface disinfectant
to comply with the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency
and other regulatory agency
requirements. The test procedure
is to simulate the way in which
the product is intended to be
used.
Test Summary
A film of bacterial cells is
dried on a surface of glass
carriers and is then wiped with
the towelette and exposed to the
test substance for a specified
contact time. After exposure,
the glass carriers are
transferred to vessels
containing neutralizing
subculture media and assayed
qualitatively for survivors.
Appropriate viability, dried
organism population, and
neutralization confirmation
controls are performed.
