Test Purpose
The purpose of this microbiology
lab test is to quantitatively
evaluate the antimicrobial
efficacy of a client's sanitizer
product on pre-cleaned or
lightly soiled inanimate,
nonporous, non-food contact
surfaces to comply with the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency
and other regulatory agency
requirements. The product must
demonstrate a ≥99.9% reduction.
Test Summary
A film of bacterial cells dried
on the surface of glass slide
carriers is exposed to the test
substance for a specified
contact time (≤5 minutes). After
exposure, the carriers are
neutralized and assayed
quantitatively for survivors.
Appropriate, sterility, purity,
carrier quantitation, and
neutralization controls are
performed.
