AOAC Use Dilution Test for
Liquid Products
Test Purpose
The purpose of this microbiology
lab test is to determine the
efficacy of a client's product
using the AOAC Use Dilution
Method to comply with the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency
and other regulatory agency
requirements.
Test Summary
A film of bacterial cells is
dried on a surface of stainless
steel carriers and is then
exposed to the test substance
for a specified contact time.
After exposure, the carriers are
transferred to vessels
containing neutralizing
subculture media and assayed
qualitatively for survivors.
Appropriate viability, carrier
population, and neutralization
controls are performed.
