AOAC Germicidal Spray Products
Test
Test Purpose
The purpose of this microbiology
lab test is to determine the
efficacy of a client's spray
product as disinfectants for
contaminated surfaces to comply
with the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and other
regulatory agency requirements.
Test Summary
A film of bacterial cells dried
on a surface of glass slide
carriers is exposed to the test
substance for a specified
contact time. After exposure,
the carriers are transferred to
vessels containing neutralizing
subculture media and assayed
qualitatively for survivors.
Appropriate viability, carrier
population, and neutralization
confirmation controls are
performed.
